Congratulations to our Pharmacy Technician, Leah Head, who recently earned her 340B certification. This is a specialized, advanced-level training program that focuses on aspects of 340B program management, compliance and optimization. This certification requires ongoing education and passing of a recertification exam every two years.
The 340B Drug Pricing program is critical for helping our organization to provide affordable care to our community. Properly managing the program can lead to significant cost savings for our organization by helping us obtain outpatient medications at a significant discount. As we are looking to switch our 340B software and to expand our savings in the retail pharmacy and other outpatient areas of the hospital (like the ED, surgery, clinics), Leah’s expertise will help us to maximize the 340B program efficiency and will help our organization to stretch the scarce federal resources as far as possible.
Leah has worked at Lower Umpqua Hospital Pharmacy for over seven years and has kept the inpatient pharmacy running through many leadership and pharmacist changes. Her contributions to the hospital and the pharmacy have been invaluable. Her ambition and her commitment to excellence ensures that the pharmacy department is able to tackle all kinds of projects and tough implementation challenges. When she’s not at work, Leah enjoys working on home improvements with her husband, kayaking, and playing with her two dogs.
