GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
We believe when we contribute together, donations can really make a positive impact on patients and community care.
The most common way to make an immediate gift is by writing a check. This type of cash gift provides immediate liquidity for charity and generates a charitable income tax deduction for the donor in the year of the gift.
Giving stocks or bonds may provide greater tax benefits. If you have owned securities for more than one year and the fair market value has increased since you purchased them, you can avoid capital gains tax and receive a charitable income tax deduction equal to the fair market value.
A planned gift is one that occurs after your lifetime, so your current income isn’t affected. One option is to remember the Lower Umpqua Hospital Foundation in your will. A simple sentence in your will completes the gift. Because you’re not giving away any assets until after your lifetime, you’re free to change your mind at any time.
Ways to direct your giving:
Through the DFHC / LUH Foundation Community Health Services Scholarships students and past graduates of Reedsport Community Charter School are eligible to apply for scholarships to assist with their chosen career in the medical field. The medical field may include career opportunities such as therapists, medical technicians, office careers, nursing, pharmacy, plant maintenance, physician, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, or any other area in hospital or clinic service. Philanthropic support will ensure local students receive on-going annual awards to assist with their education.
If you or a loved one has been impacted by the Lower Umpqua Hospital District, establishing a memorial or tribute gift is a meaningful way to honor your loved one or celebrate a special occasion such as a birthday while supporting the work of our mission. You can make a direct donation to the Foundation as a tribute or you may wish to purchase a Myrtlewood leaf for $100 to be placed on the Tree of Love or Family Tree in the lobby of the hospital as a lasting memorial.
Honor a Lower Umpqua Hospital District team member with a gift in their name.
The generosity of friends and patients like you makes our work possible by funding equipment and technology, and offering a helping hand to vulnerable patients in need.
