Starting Thursday August 29th, Lower Umpqua Hospital will be partnering with Thrive Umpqua and UC-VEG to host a 13-week Lifestyle and Nutrition Course. Participants have the opportunity to attend in-person or remotely. This event will be open to the public, and class size will be limited.
The Lifestyle & Nutrition Course is a 13-week, evidence-based, disease prevention and reversal series that uses lifestyle medicine to address the leading causes of death in the U.S. and Douglas County. New topics are covered each week, including heart disease, diabetes, cancer, obesity, and other chronic illnesses as well as how to manage stress, engage mindfulness, avoid toxins and chemicals, and incorporate more exercise into each day. We teach practical strategies for lasting happiness and facilitate a socially supportive atmosphere. The theoretical portion of the program is complemented with practical cooking demos and recipe sampling, along with take-home packets of helpful handouts and easy and affordable recipes.
